Brigitte Lebel on Lake Nipissing

About Brigitte...

My name is Brigitte Lebel and I live and work in Northern Ontario, on the territory of Nipissing First Nation. I am a Registered Psychotherapist, Ordained Minister, MABT Facilitator and Reiki Master.

I've been attending home births as an second attendant to midwives for over 19 years. I've also attended several deaths at the local hospital as Chaplain. Music has been a big part of my life and I have recorded on 3 albums as a singer-songwriter.

Listening to the wind blow through the trees and being close to the water is my version of going to church. In fact I would say that it was a huge part of how I coped with the first several months after my daughter died. I had an overwhelming urge to get myself to nature, and still do to this day.

Supporting people through grief is an obvious place for me to gravitate in my work. My lived experience puts any training I've had on the topic to a rudimentary level. I am comfortable and more than willing to create space and silence for the kind of pain that accompanies loss. From my experience I now understand how rare that is and how lonely the grief journey can be.

I identify as queer and love supporting folks with issues around gender, sex, and sexuality. The idea of officiating queer weddings makes me want to dance. As a mother of 3 kids, I appreciate supporting parenting issues, anxiety around pregnancy, and postpartum mood disorders. I have a special place in my heart for supporting teens through trauma and mental health struggles.
